Busy life in this fast-paced world is something we can all relate to.
From doing your assignments to household activities, we have a hard time to slow down even for a second and take a deep breath occasionally.
However, have you ever considered stopping to just sort of absorbing the sweet scent of nature around you? Have you ever wanted to just live in that moment where everything pauses for a while, all the chaos and the noise, where everything becomes so peaceful!
If your answer is ‘Yes’, then a three-week yoga retreat is your perfect gateway to the land of peace! I discovered yoga when I was at a low point in my life. It felt like my life was falling apart and in a way, yoga just saved me. Now, I am here to help you discover the benefits of yoga and why you should be investing more time in it so let us jump right into it!
A Brief Historical Aspect of Yoga
Historically yoga was more than just a method of teaching; it was a way of life. It was a lifetime commitment to a better lifestyle and culture that outshined meditation practices and introduced healthy eating habits, bathing habits, social interactions, work, and much more! Yoga retreats and wellness getaways are getting increasingly popular for not just regular yoga practitioners, but also for the people who are looking to unwind from the stresses of life.
My History with Yoga
There is always a part in our lives where everything’s a blur and things just do not make sense. We can say that part of my life was when I first discovered Yoga. I had gotten out of a bad relationship.
My career was going nowhere and the cherry on top was that, I was evicted from my apartment. With nowhere to go, it just felt like that all the burdens of life have been placed on me altogether at once!
My life became a blur and so did my eating and drinking habits! This is when my good friend Maria, introduced me to a three-week Yoga retreat and I thought to myself that this is not going to work. Nevertheless, she was persistent that I should give it a try and I did!
Ever since that day, I have never looked back and I couldn’t be happier. Of course, things didn’t change overnight but just staying true to the Yoga practices helped me achieve a sense of calm and self-actualization and I couldn’t be more grateful!
My Advice to you
I remember not having any experience when I started doing Yoga. I could barely hold my breath in for two seconds but it got better. Therefore, my advice to you is that; put your reservations, embarrassments aside, and just focus and take that plunge.
Truly immerse yourself into it and you will eventually get all the poses right! Believe me, I know, how self-conscious one can feel. During my first classes of Yoga, I worked on being more embarrassed than truly focusing on what it had to offer! All I had to do was just be there physically and spiritually.
The Benefits and My Experience!
A yoga retreat nourishes your mind, body, and soul – the way a vacation is meant to be. And yes it did exactly that for me! During the retreat, I felt an effortless glide into a state of ease. Yoga Retreat uses gravity to open your joints and stretch your muscles and all you have to do is release tension. This not only helped me glide into calmness but also instantly relieved me of all sorts of burdens!
Another benefit that I experienced while doing Yoga was having stable energy levels throughout the whole retreat. And to top it all off, I felt so much healthier coming out of it than going in. It’s food for your soul. It nurtured my malnourished soul, made me physically stronger, more flexible, and brought a sense of tranquility all around!
Apart from the spiritual nourishment, I truly experienced the benefit of being more confident, composed, and believing in myself! Yoga can uplift your confidence. The procedure works by freeing tension and stiffness from your mind so that you can feel confident about your physical body.
I have had issues with having high blood pressure at times for no reason at all. This is where Yoga helped as well. By practicing yoga daily, my lung capacity increased as an outcome of the deep breathing process. It helped in slowing down the heart rate, which in turn lowered my blood pressure!
As my eating habits gradually improved, so did my immune system! I became more fit and active and all the stresses of my life just vanished away! Overall, yoga has been nothing but an ocean of benefits for me and it can be the same for you as well!
My Short Experience with Aerial Yoga!
Aerial yoga is a modern style of yoga & Pilates that incorporates a low-hanging soft fabric hammock to explore alignment, release chronic tension, hang upside down, and have fun! It is appropriate for people of all abilities including beginners with no experience.
Sharing my experience, the aerial factor added a new dimension to complement my existing practice on the ground. Every class included decompression, supported inversions, helped in core and upper body strengthening, and aided me to ease into deep relaxation. I truly enjoyed doing it.
Hot Yoga – Another Experience!
Hot yoga has become a popular exercise in recent years. It offers several of the similar benefits as traditional yoga, such as stress reduction, improved strength, and flexibility. However, with the heat turned up, hot yoga can give your heart, lungs, and muscles an even greater, more intense workout.
Hot yoga may not be for everyone but if you enjoy regular yoga, and want to step it up a notch, it may be just what you are looking for. I was able to shred a couple of pounds with hot yoga and it improved my stamina as well.
The Yoga Retreat that I Recommend!
I booked a yoga retreat through the website bookyogaretreat. You can find many packages on their website at reasonable prices. My recommendation to you for the best place for Yoga Retreat is in California, a 7 day SUP, healing waters, and Yoga wellness Retreat in big bear lake with a package of $999 for 6 nights. It includes home-cooked meals and hiking in the surrounded area. I had a wonderfully relaxing, spiritual, meditating, and a fun week there.
Included in the package was a super comfortable accommodation as well as three very appetizing meals a day, so all the basic needs were taken care of. It made me very aware of the effort you have to put into just basic things like cooking, or otherwise finding a place to eat and making your selection.
Other Yoga retreats that I’ve come across but haven’t experienced them on my own include the following:
